The first national Green organization was founded at that meeting, the decentralized Green Committees of Correspondence, with the goal of organizing local groups and working towards a Green political organization. The Ten Key Values adopted by the Green Party were put forth during the 1984 meeting (http://www.gp.org/10-key-values).

The 2014 meeting will feature Green Party panels, workshops, meetings of the Green National Committee, and other events. Several Green candidates running in 2014 and Green elected officials are expected to travel from from states across the U.S. to attend the meeting. Greens will also discuss the party's involvement in 2016 elections.
