MILWAUKEE, WI -- 750 to 800 delegates from 47 states are expected at Forward 2004! Green National Convention at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they will participate in the selection of the Green Party's presidential candidate.  The competition for Green support has narrowed to a choice between the nomination of David Cobb and an endorsement of Ralph Nader.

"The outcome of tomorrow's vote is still uncertain, but one thing is clear: This convention will produce a ticket that truly represents the Green grassroots," said Ben Manski, Co-Chair of the Green Party of the United States.

"The floor rules are set up so that the will of the majority of delegates will be carried out," said Jody Grage Haug of Washington, a member of the Presidential Campaign Support Committee.

Several of the Green candidates participated in a contentious forum Thursday evening, June 24 at the Midwest Center.  Peter Camejo, a Green candidate for the nomination and Ralph Nader's choice as running mate, spoke for Mr. Nader.

David Cobb has chosen Green activist Pat LaMarche of Yarmouth, Maine as his running mate.  Ms. Lamarche ran for governor of the state of Maine in 1998 and re-established ballot access for the Maine Green Independent Party by receiving over 5% of the votes cast.  The Maine Green Independent Party recently announced that 2% of Maine voters are registered Green, the highest percentage of any state.
