WASHINGTON, DC -- Mai Abdul Rahman, candidate for
the District 2 (Wards 3 and 4) seat on the DC Board of Education, has collected an impressive
list of endorsements, from parents and neighborhood activists to a former US ambassador.
Among Ms. Abdul Rahman's endorsers are Ward 3 Democrats chair
Tom Smith, Gail Sonnemann, education advocate and Ward 4 organizer
Alejandro Miranda, and former US Ambassador to Zimbabwe Tom
McDonald, and several local civic and education activists, including
Jack Edmondson, Ann Loikow, and Anne Renshaw.
Ms. Abdul Rahman has also been endorsed by the DC Statehood Green Party

"DC Schools need a strong voice who really means 'Leave No Child Behind' and who will help assure
quality education to all our children through a comprehensive educational program," said Mr.
Miranda. "Mai's first priority is to advocate for our DC children. She has been busy at it for
more than 10 years."
"I support Mai because I know her as a fellow parent in DC Public Schools," says Philip Blair,
father of three DC Public School students and a member of the DC Statehood Green Party. "She has
always put her formidable energy to work for her children and mine, and parents need one of our
own on the Board of Education."
