Friday, April 16, 2004 Green Party Contacts: Kinsey seeks to unseat the author of an antigay marriage amendment. WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The national Lavender Green Caucus of the Green Party of the United States has voted to endorse the candidacy of Bob Kinsey for the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Kinsey is a Green Party member running in Colorado's Fourth Congressional District. The caucus cited Mr. Kinsey's commitment to Green values and justice for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in his race to unseat Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (R-Col.), author of the discriminatory Constitutional Amendment to Define Marriage (H.J. Res 56). The platform of the Green Party of the United States has supported full equality, including same-sex marriage rights, for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals since its approval in 2000. "LGBT individuals in this nation are under siege, and Bob Kinsey is committed to fighting for equality for all people without regard to sexual orientation or gender identity," said Brandon Lacy Campos, who chairs the Lavender Green Caucus. "Mr. Kinsey also has a strong record as an educator and peace activist and is committed to the values of the Green Party. It is with pride that the first person to earn our Caucus endorsement is Bob Kinsey." The proposal to endorse Mr. Kinsey was brought to the Caucus by Colorado Lavender Greens who are organizing to defeat Rep. Musgrave. "Bob Kinsey is the right person for Colorado's Fourth District," said Tyler Kinkade, a Colorado Green and member of the Lavender Green Caucus. "For the past 36 years, Bob has been a teacher, a minister, a veteran, a parent, a staunch opponent to nuclear proliferation, and a steady presence advocating peace and justice in Colorado. It is time that we send someone to Washington who respects people, liberty, and our world -- and who represents fairness and sanity."
