Green candidate for Oakland City Council calls
Cindy Sheehan's Camp Casey 'electric'.
CRAWFORD, Texas - Oakland City Council candidate
Aimee Allison of the California Green Party - an Army Conscientious
Objector during the Gulf War who has spent at week at Cindy Sheehan's
"Camp Casey" - described the environment near Pres. Bush's
ranch as "electric."
Allison was a scheduled speaker Thursday night in
Houston at a big anti-war rally hosted by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
The rally was part of a series of forums organized
by U.S. Tour of Duty to support Cindy Sheehan and educate the public
about Americans failed foreign policy in the Middle East.
"Cindy Sheehan's' courage to confront the
Bush administration has unleashed a tide wave of anguish over the
unjust invasion of Iraq. I think America is finally starting to wake
up. The environment down here is electric," said Allison, who was
the master of ceremonies at several vigils at Camp Casey for the
parents of those killed in Iraq.
Allison will return to Oakland this weekend and is
schedule to speak at the Green Party Rally Back to School Not War on
Saturday, September 17.
