NOMINEES FOR U.S. SENATE, GOVERNOR AND STATE OFFICE CANDIDATES TO BE
DECIDED
HARTFORD -- Green Party officials announce
that "Earth Day", Saturday April 22, at the AFLCIO Greater
New Haven Labor Hall, at 267 Chapel Street in New Haven, CT will be
the date of the State Convention to have formal decisions on who the
party nominees will be for historic first runs for U.S. Senate,
Governor, and other state offices. A social Hour will begin at 11 am,
with the kick off of the Convention at Noon. The event is free and
open to the public and all registered Green Party voters are
encouraged to attend. The Convention will also feature the election of
internal Green Party officers and discuss other local race and
candidates for office.

said "This will be a Convention that will formally decide our
candidates for state wide office and we hope to have a record crowd in
attendance as interest is high on our candidates such as Cliff
Thornton running for Governor. Each of the candidates will give short
speeches on why they want to the Green Party's nominees and how they
will campaign. The Convention will then vote to endorse the
candidates.
The Greens have elected about 227 office holders
across the U.S., on including many city council members, mayors, and
state officials.

Governor: Clifford Thornton, founder of the
drug policy reform group Efficacy, who will be CT's first African
American candidate for Governor;

Attorney General: Nancy Burton, environmental
activist and founder of CT Coalition against Millstone;

Secretary of the State: Mike DeRosa, founder
of Project V.O.T.E.R. - Voter Opportunity through Election Reform;

State Treasurer: David Bue, socially
responsible investment adviser with First Affirmative Financial
Network;

U.S. Senator: Ralph Ferrucci, former candidate
for New Haven Mayor and for U.S. Representative, 3rd CD.

Temporary "Place holder" candidates
to be changed at a later date before the final ballot in November
include: Lt. Governor: Robin Schaefer, of Yale University and
State Comptroller: Colin Bennett
McKee explained that petitions are being
circulated for Green Party candidates for state-wide offices runs for
the first time in the Green Party of Connecticut history.
