ADAM 4 SHADOW STREET RALLY ON SEPTEMBER 18 WILL FEATURE THE GREEN PARTY'S NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A September 18 street rally, planned by Adam Eidinger, candidate for 'Shadow' U.S. Representative, will feature the Steering Committee of the Green Party of the United States.

Mr. Eidinger's general election campaign kick-off party will take place Saturday, September 18, at the intersection of 18th Street and Columbia Road NW in the heart of the Adams Morgan neighborhood.

The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. until 12 midnight, and will also feature the other D.C. Statehood Green Party candidates for local political offices, as well as live music, belly dancers, and other entertainment. (If it  rains, the general party will be rescheduled for a later date.)

The Green Party's national Steering Committee will gather in Washington, D.C. during the September 18 weekend for a meeting. The Green Party has enthusiastically supported the demand of District residents for full constitutional rights and statehood. D.C. statehood will be a major theme of the September 18 rally.

Maya O'Connor, a member of the D.C. Statehood Green Party, was elected to the nine-member Steering Committee during the 2004 Green National Convention in June.

Adam Eidinger will challenge incumbent Ray Browne (D) in the November 2 election for the Shadow Representative office. Mr. Eidinger, along with the D.C. Statehood Green Party, opposes the bill proposed by Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) that would grant the District a seat in the House, saying that the bill would not grant D.C. legislative or budget autonomy, and would distract from and obstruct the goal of statehood and democratic rights for D.C. residents. Mr. Browne has endorsed the bill.
