Delaware Greens Call for War Lies Investigation and Opposition to Patriot Act

Delaware congressional representatives are urged to support reinstatement of the Special Prosecutor Law.  Greens vote to petition Wilmington City Council to pass a resolution in opposition to the USA Patriot Act.

Wilmington, Delaware:  At its 2003 Annual Meeting held Saturday, 5/31/03, members of the Green Party of Delaware approved two proposals presented from the floor of the convention.

1.  The Green Party of the State of Delaware calls upon the Delaware Congressional Representatives to support the reinstatement of the Special Prosecutor Law and to investigate the circumstances of the presence of WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) in Iraq as a justification for going to war.

2.  To ask the Wilmington City Council to pass a resolution opposing the Patriot Act, thus joining Philadelphia, Baltimore and more that 100 other cities.

Earlier in the day Green Party leader and 2002 candidate for Delaware Attorney General addressed the convention urging qualified Greens to run for elected office in 2004.  She noted how satisfying it had been for her to run in 2002 and described some of her experiences.

In other business, Greens elected three new State Coordinating Council members.  Jamie Igou and J. Roy Cannon will serve two year terms as a Member-At-Large.  John Atkeison was elected to a two year term as the partyšs National Representative to the Green Party of the United States which also serves on the Statešs Coordinating Council.

Reports from the State Locals were well received by Greens.  The reports outlined the various ways the locals are involved in their community and plans for the 2004 elections.  Locals are the grassroots level organization of the State Green Party where important decisions and actions occur for their communities.
