Rev. Jay Robinson, Iowa Green Party candidate for governor of Iowa,
today called upon Democratic Governor Tom Vilsack and Republican
candidate Doug Gross to engage in a series of public forums on
issues concerning the state of Iowa. He proposed forums to be held in
public libraries or community centers in the communities of Sioux
Center, Baxter, and Center Point.
"It's important for the people of Iowa and for the future of this
state that there be a serious, civil discussion of the issues that
confront us," said Rev. Robinson. "Whether the question be
about budget shortfalls, public education, environmental protection,
economic development or the future of agriculture and rural communities,
the people of Iowa deserve straight answers without all the rancor. Our
concerns in this state are too important to be left to the
negative and money-soaked campaigning of parties that encompass only a
narrow range of the political spectrum. The Iowa Green Party and my own
campaign offer a fresh perspective and a respectful tone not previously
found in Iowa politics," he said.
