Press Conference

WHEN: Monday, January 26, 2004 12:00-12:30 p.m.

WHERE: Highland Park Community College (Glendale at Second) first floor atrium (parking and entrance in rear of building)

WHO: Speakers: Highland Park residents, small-business owners, and local organizations; and Michigan 5th District State Representative Bill McConico.

WHAT: This press conference is scheduled to inform the public of the latest information on the Highland Park water crisis. Residents and small-business owners who are without water, or have been without water, will provide testimonials about their situation.

The event will also address water shut-offs and rising water rates in Detroit, DTE's utility shut-offs to over  30,000 low-income residents this winter, and the widespread utility crisis in Michigan. In addition, an announcement will be made regarding the upcoming "State of the People" rally in Lansing on February 4, 2004 in support of a moratorium on winter utility shut-offs.
