>     Representatives of scores of groups from across the country
>will be coming to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor next
>weekend to discuss the role of the progressive third-party movement
>over the next year and a half leading up to the 2004 elections.

>     The Sixth National Summit of the Independent Progressive Politics
>Network (IPPN), a national organization with 50 affiliated groups,
>will be hosted by the Green Party of Michigan (GPMI) and its U of M
>Student Greens and Huron Valley Greens locals.

>     Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney will deliver the keynote
>address Saturday afternoon on "Racism, War, and the Economy".
>
>     Another highlight will be Friday evening's plenary session
>"2004:  What Are Our Options?"  The interactive discussion will
>be initiated by Anita Rios -- member of the Coördinating Committee
>of the Green Party of the United States (GPUS) -- and Baldemar
>Velasquez, founder and president of the Farm Labor Organizing
>Committee (FLOC) and national co-chair of the Labor Party.

>     There will be a concert Saturday evening with Matt Jones,
>founder of the SNCC Freedom Singers of the 1960s civil-rights
>movement; David Rovics, internationally-known folksinger; and the
>inspiring duo of Pat Humphries and Sandy O., just returned from a
>trip to South Korea.

>     All events will take place at the Michigan Union, 530 South
>State Street -- except the Saturday evening concert at East Quad
>Auditorium, 701 East University Avenue.
