Green Party of Ohio

July 10, 2004

Special Announcement - Green Party's Presidential Nominee David Cobb will be in Columbus Sunday July 18th and in Cincinnati on Monday July 19th.

Central OH Green Party, Columbus will have David Cobb with them, at the Columbus Rib Fest on the afternoon of July 18th, as they gather signatures. Please come and interview him as well as see how Ohio voters respond to placing him on the OH ballot.

South West Ohio Green Party, Cincinnati will be having a fundraiser party for David Cobb, on Monday, July 19th from 5:30-9:00 PM in Northside, 1417 Bercliff Ave. Cincinnati, OH

This is an outdoor picnic where we'll be serving "Cobb Salad" and "Corn on the Cobb" and fruit "cobbler." We'll also be grilling veggie burgers and veggie dogs but there is meat in the "Cobb Salad." Many of our members are veggies or vegan, so we'll have a salad with that in mind as well. We'll be setting up the grill about 5:30 PM and plan to snack, eat, talk and "hang out" until about 7:30 when we'll have Dave make a formal address to those in attendance. The press is welcome to join us.

Anita Rios will be introducing David, as she did at the Green Party National Convention. Anita Rios is a past co-chair from the Green Party US and is currently listed as the vice-presidential candidate on the petition being circulated to get David Cobb on the ballot in Ohio. She will be coming in from Toledo.

The Cincinnati Green Party will be looking at the Cobb acceptance speech from the convention at our meeting this Tuesday, July 13th at about 7:00, same location. Again, the press is welcome.

Host Gwen Marshall said, "I know that some Greens are concerned that they don't want Bush to win this year (we know he didn't really win in 2000) so think the Greens should sit this year out. It is this concern and the fact that the two parties will never support having another party compete with them that has caused David to be a strong supporter of "Instant Runoff Voting." David will explain why the D's & R's should be supporting this system.

Charter Party Joining us for event.

We will be joined by the Charter Party and Party's representative doing presswork that day on IRV and Proportional Representation.
