Pacific Green Party to hold supplemental nominating
convention
Members of the Pacific Green Party of Oregon will convene in Portland on
Saturday, June 17 to nominate a slate of candidates for public office,
in addition to Joe Keating, who was named the PGP gubernatorial candidate for 2006 at a
March convention in Corvallis. At the June 17 convention, candidates will be seeking the PGP nomination for several
positions, including national representative in House District 5 and positions in the Oregon legislature.
The convention will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and a business
meeting at 9:30 a.m. prior to the afternoon nominating convention, which
will begin with a keynote address by keating at 1:30 p.m. The convention
will take place upstairs at The Southeast Uplift Building, 3534 SE Main
in Portland.
The agenda for the business meeting includes proposals calling for
changes to the PGP constitution and bylaws and several proposals calling
on the national party to modify, rescind, or support Resolution 190 (divestiture from and boycotts
of Israel).
The afternoon convention will include as candidates asking for
nomination Paul Aranas for Darlene Hooley’s seat in US House District,
5; Jeff Cropp for Oregon House District 42; and Paul Loney for Oregon House District 46. Elections will also
take place for PGP Coordinating Committee members.
The convention is free and open to the public, although only PGP members
