Carlisle - May 19, 2002
"I call for a full and objective investigation of the
events and internal government communications leading up to and
following the attacks of September 11th, 2001. The American people
deserve and demand the truth."
-- Congressional Candidate for the 19th PA district, Ben Price,
Green Party.
Citing the recent controversy over the belated admission by the Bush
administration that it had received non-specific warnings about the
likelihood of aircraft hijackings to be sponsored by Osama bin Laden
within weeks of the actual attack on the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon, Green Party candidate for Pennsylvania's 19th Congressional
district, Ben Price, called for a non-partisan investigation of
communications and intelligence briefs received and prepared by
government agencies and delivered to responsible offices and
officials.
"This shouldn't be a witch hunt," said Price. "We need to
know how and why crucial information got stalled at critical choke
points in the flow of communication."
Commenting on White House claims that the warnings received were not
specific enough to act upon, Price stated that "it should be up to
an unbiased and unencumbered investigative panel to decide if available
information was credible and actionable. The American people have a
right to know how well or how poorly their government is doing its job.
Complaints that scrutiny is unfair by those entrusted to do that job are
irrelevant. In a democracy there is no executive privilege, and no
authority that exceeds the right of the people to judge actions taken in
the name of the people."
