HARRISBURG, PA - Michael Morrill, the Green Party nominee for governor of Pennsylvania, will join striking members of Chocolate Workers Local 464 on the picket line outside of the Hershey Chocolate plant this morning starting around 11:00. Morrill will be joined by other Green Party members in an act of solidarity with the workers. The Chocolate Workers are striking over an attempt by Hershey Foods to force them to pay more for their health care despite increased corporate profits.

"This is a perfect example of corporate greed run rampant," said Morrill. "Hershey CEO Richard Lenny gets $4.6 million while the workers get the shaft. Hershey's profits are increasing, thanks to the productivity of its workforce. So how do they reward them? Cuts in benefits and disrespect. Milton Hershey must be turning over in his grave."

Morrill this week claimed the mantle of being the only pro-labor candidate for governor. He pointed out that he is a former union member and union organizer. He contrasted his work history to Edward Rendell's job working for a union busting law firm as evidence of where Rendell's loyalties lie.  Morrill also listed about a dozen pro-labor policies where the Republican and Democrat take the wrong stand, while Morrill shares labor's perspective.
