Following is the text of a letter sent by Eric Prindle, candidate for state representative, to the following candidates: Cong. Don Sherwood (R-10) and his opponent, Green Kurt Shotko; Sen. Jacob Corman (R-34) and his opponent, Libertarian Daniel Tuel; Republican Adam Harris and Democrat Tom Spangler, candidates for state representative in the 82nd District; Rep. Russ Fairchild (R-85), Prindle's opponent; Rep.Robert Belfanti (D-107) and his opponent, Republican Mike Robatin; and Rep. Merle Phillips (R-108) and his opponent, Democrat Douglas Mapes.

Dear Fellow Candidates:

As a candidate for state representative in the 85th District, I am writing to request your active participation in an effort to plan and promote one or more legislative forums for the voters of the Central Susquehanna Valley region, including candidates seeking to represent Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties.

This is an unusual election year for our region. For the first time in at least a decade, all legislative elections in the four-county area are contested. There are two candidates for Representative in Congress, District 19; two for Senator in the General Assembly, District 34; and two each for Representative in the General Assembly, Districts 82, 85, 107 and 108. This gives Valley voters an unprecedented opportunity to review the accomplishments of incumbents and the qualifications of challengers and make informed decisions about their representation.

This year also stands out because of the redistricting that has taken place. The entire Valley, which once constituted the corners of four Congressional districts, now has one Congressman who did not previously represent any of the region. What better way for Mr. Sherwood to introduce himself to the voters than by contrasting his views with those of his opponent? Other incumbents are representing significant new areas for the first time, and I would think they would relish a similar opportunity.

Once I have secured your support, I will contact local organizations such as the Lewisburg League of Women Voters, the Central Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Daily Item and Sunbury Broadcasting about their potential involvement in one or more forums. You can contact me to express your support for this project at 570-372-0503 or prindle@greens.org. Thank you for your time and consideration of my proposal.

Sincerely,
Eric J. Prindle
