Prindle endorsed by National Organization for Women

For immediate release: Sep. 12, 2002

Eric Prindle, the Green Party candidate for state representative in the 85th District, garnered his first major endorsement this week from the National Organization for Women (NOW), the preeminent women's organization in the United States.

"Pennsylvania NOW PAC is delighted to endorse Eric Prindle as the Green Party candidate for the 85th District house seat," Pennsylvania NOW president Kathy Miller said in an endorsement message. "We need people in the state legislature who will stand up for women's rights."

"I am honored to be endorsed by NOW, an organization I truly admire for all the work it has done to bring about a more just society," Prindle said. "I'm glad my effort to speak up for constituencies that are not being  adequately represented in the state legislature is being recognized on the statewide level."

"Eric and I have worked together on many feminist and pro-woman causes," Emily Anderson, chair of Prindle's campaign and a NOW activist, said, "and I believe that his dedication to gender equality will continue to be a central focus in his work at the state level."

"There are many issues in addition to reproductive rights that are at stake for women in Pennsylvania," Miller said. "These include getting an equitable wage for the work we do, getting health care and prescription  coverage for ourselves and our children, being safe from violence on the streets and in our homes, having schools where our children have the resources to learn . The list goes on and on. Pennsylvania currently ranks low in every study on the status of women from political participation to health. I am confident that Eric will work hard to make Pennsylvania a more women friendly state."
