Rhode Island Green Party
Gerritt Campaign for Mayor Reaches All Corners of the City.

Walking tours have been conducted in All 25 Providence Neighborhoods.

The Green Party campaign of Greg Gerritt for Mayor of Providence announce that it has hit a small milestone this week, when Gerritt campaigned in Wanskuck, and now has conducted at least one walking tour of every neighborhood in Providence. Since February, Gerritt has been walking the main streets and side streets neighborhoods throughout Providence as a part of his campaign for mayor. He has talked to thousands of Providence residents and has handed out more than 6000 brochures on the streets. "Even more importantly," Gerritt added, "I have been able to hold in depth discussions with people all over the city to learn of their concerns and hopes for the city."

Gerritt noted "From Washington Park and Silver Lake to Wanskuck and Blackstone I have had conversations with young and old. I have sat in on community meetings and asked people what they think is important as well as sharing my perspective on the city. Affordable Housing tops the list of concerns, followed closely by education and the need for a city government that cares about the people and really listens to their concerns."

The Gerritt campaign continues to be on the streets, and to find new volunteers on a regular basis. "This is an old fashioned grass roots insurgency, Providence has not seen such a campaign for mayor in a long time, but the response has been excellent and the people of the city seem really ready for a change." Gerritt said.

Gerritt stated he is asking that anyone seeking more information about the campaign or to ask him to speak to their neighborhood group to call his campaign phone at (401) 490-7602.
