SEGAL WINS CITY COUNCIL RACE- FIRST ELECTED "GREEN" IN RHODE ISLAND

Providence, RI. - Green Party of Rhode Island officials celebrated their first victory as David Segal won a city council seat in the Providence elections. Segal wins in the long time, heavy Democratic Ward One of the city, in the Fox Point working class - and College Hill neighborhoods (Brown and R.I.S.D.).

Segal may be the swing vote in the City Council majority leader race, committee seats, and other votes for the 14 Democratic to One Green City Council. Past City Council seats were split along Pro Convicted Corrupt Former Mayor Cianci and the other Democrat Council Seats.

Tim McKee, Green Party Co-Chair said the historic victory is a milestone for the local party. Hartford and New Haven have elected Greens to their City Councils, but the Providence, Rhode Island victory mean big changes in local politics with a progressive agenda for city. The factions will have to deal with Segal and Greens to get things done in the city, thru committees with Segal on them.

McKee said about 157 Greens have elected to local, city and state office. He added more election results will be updated as the results come in.
