Maine Greens Gaining Support, Nearly Match Dems in Tax Form Fundraising. | ||
Press Release Augusta - According to Michael Allen in the Research Division of Maine Revenue Services, the Maine Green Independent Party collected almost as much money from the political party check off box on the state tax income form this year as the Democratic Party. Greens collected $6,138 while the Democrats mustered $6,864. Far back were the Republicans with $3,987 and the Reform Party with $274. The figures are through June 25. "This may not look like big money in politics, but it clearly means the Greens are building a solid image as a legitimate political party in Maine", said Nancy Allen, media coordinator for the Maine Green Independent Party. "The Ralph Nader presidential campaign brought many new Maine people to the Greens and these people are now supporting our ideas and platform with their money. We are grateful to Maine taxpayers for their generous support. The money will be used for party building, outreach and voter registration efforts", she said. For more information: |
