Green Party Presents Wisconsin Candidates. |
Wisconsin Green Party August 2, 2004 Contacts: Green Party of the United States' Presidential & Vice Presidential candidates David Cobb and Pat LaMarche to appear on the party's ballot line in Wisconsin this November with 10 other Green candidates. The Wisconsin Green Party today announced 10 Green candidates will appear on its ballot line in the November election in addition to the party's Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates. The other candidates are competing for congressional, state legislative, and county partisan offices. "We are really excited to have so many candidates running," said Jill Bussiere, WIGP Co-spokesperson. "We have had 39 candidates this year, including the spring and fall elections, which makes us 3rd in the nation for most Green candidates, just behind California and Michigan." Last year the Wisconsin Green Party had 16 candidates running, and 30 Green candidates ran in 2002. "We believe that the best way to grow our party is by giving people the opportunity to vote for Green candidates," said Brian Lutenegger, Co-Chair of the Four Lakes Green Party of Dane County. "In many of our races this fall, we provide the only opposition to established officeholders. Our candidates look forward to bringing up issues that would otherwise never be mentioned in these contests."
