STATE WORKER NELSON EISMAN ANNOUNCES RUN FOR GOVERNOR
Offers Wisconsin voters a clean, green option
MADISON -- Green Party gubernatorial candidate Nelson Eisman formally kicks off his
campaign at 5:00 PM, July 10 on the State Street steps of the Capitol. Music will be provided by Ken
Lonnquist and the Whateverlys, and the crowd is invited to the Flatiron Tavern, 102 King Street for a
party immediately following the event.
The campaign promises to be a refreshing change from
politics as usual in Wisconsin. Eisman says, "I am running for Governor to bring Wisconsin government
back to the people. I know the people of Wisconsin want someone they can trust.
My previous elected experience was a non-partisan seat on the Dane County
Board. In partisan politics I believe it is the Wisconsin Green Party that offers the voters a chance
to vote their hopes, instead of their fears."
A vote for Nelson Eisman is a vote for:
-
Honest government
-
Universal health care
-
Green energy
-
Economic justice
"As a state employee for thirty years, I know how to
make government work for the people. My first executive order will rescind all work rules that
restrict public employees from discussing the policies and practices of their agencies with the
media or anyone else. The government must be open to be clean," Eisman says. Some of the highlights of his
platform include progressive income tax-based funding for education, repeal of the property tax, prison
reform, and free hunting and fishing licenses for senior citizens.
Also present to celebrate the campaign kick-off will
be Rae Vogeler, candidate for US Senate, and a representative for Leon Todd, the Green Party's
Lieutenant Governor candidate. The Green Party is running a total of five statewide
candidates, and four more at the local level.
Nelson Eisman is a long-time Madison resident and active community volunteer, who has served on the Dane
County Regional Planning Commission and City of Madison Commission on the Environment, been a union
steward for public employees, and performed with many local community theater groups. He and his wife,
Annette, have three children and three grandchildren.
The Green Party is the fastest-growing political party
in the US. It stands for Ecology, Democracy, Social Justice, and Non-violence, and currently has 224
elected officials nationwide.
