Coordinated Campaign Committee
Those in Attendance: John Eder (ME), Greg Gerritt (RI), Sally Kim (NY),
Brent McMillan (DC), Jen Walling (IL)
Facilitator: Jen
Notetaker: Sally
o August 14th minutes adopted
o Agenda agreed upon
1. Updates/Report backs
a. Listserv and website updates
o Listserve administrator unresponsive, so CCC will resort to
yahoogroups listserve site which houses files and databases.
b. Filling open spots on CCC
o Brent White, Sean Bagely of Indiana, Washington State, and Lavender
Caucus. All white men: Have to choose two as the CCC is gender mandated,
5-5.
(NOTE TAKER'S QUESTION: Does this include Lavender Caucus?)
o Deadline extension for new CCC recruits ; currently set for September
5th but SC has not sent out a notice about open spots. Need to send out
more notices about vacancies and extension of deadline.
c. Green Coordinated Congressional Campaign 2006.
o Brent has been identifying declared 2006 congressional candidates,
searching for potential recruits, seeing if they are interested in GCCC.
Have total of 7 now, including Byron de Lear from California Brian Check
(spelling?) and someone from Virginia.
d. Brent's contract
o Brent hasn't had contract for 6 months, Rob is working on that with SC
and talked with the SC on their last call. Agreed to have a group to
work on it, including Rob and Jen (CCC Co-Chairs) and SC Co-Chairs.
o Emily also does not have a clear supervisor right now; no one has been
assigned from the current SC. Brent & Emily is pushing for
collective bargaining, especially concerning salaries. This will apply
to all contracted workers and creates a staff-GPUS working model for the
future. Brent has sent them (SC) his past contract, and notes that it is
more indepth now that Political Director and Fundraising positions have
merged. Emily has also taken up more roles in her job as well.
o Both have gone a total of 8 months without a contract. (6 or 8?)
o Brent & Emily will make a comprehensive list of what they do and
send to SC.
o CCC members should urge GP members, SC members, that SC members should
put this as a forefront issue until the matter is reserved.
2. New Business
a. Resources Subcommittee
o Jen hasn't been able to send out a call about deadline extension as
she was very busy; requests to extend deadline to Sept. 15th. Agreed as
long as no further extensions are granted.
o Brent wants this subcommittee to help out with resources for Elizabeth
Dickenson's campaign; Rob Tuft is working on that. Brent has given her
state volunteer contacts and will be giving a donor list to her state,
which Elizabeth can use for her campaign) of anyone in Minnesota who
donated to GP.
o URGENT, TIMELY ISSUE: 2 candidates who applied for funding are
requesting funds before their (non-partisan) primary date, September
13th-Elizabeth Dickinson from Minnesota and Mitch Baloneck from Ohio.
Rob and Greg are working on their Resource Applications, respectively.
Since the Finance Committee conference call is Monday; and requests for
funding need to go through Finance Com via Brent, we need to come to
some decision by Monday, 6pm EST via email vote.
- -Brent will transmit decision to FinCom. If we don't come to a
decision or our decision is to postpone; Brent will ask FinCom on their
Monday call to allow a mid-session (conference call) decision to pass
CCC funding request by Wednesday, August 31st. Jen will contact Rob
post-CCC call and request his candidate report be sent out immediately
for CCC review; Greg will also send out his candidate application
assessment via email ASAP.
o 5 applications have been sent in to CCC; $1,750 left in matching
funds. 5 more candidates from NY are in process of applying.
b. Campaign Schools
o Campaign Schools: Texas (this week) and Chicago. Problem with Chicago
Campaign School(location).
o New Jersey Regional Campaign School: New Brunswick, Southern Jersey,
March 4-5th 2006; Rutgers University and other locations being discussed
for school. Brent will work on getting in contact with surrounding
states like Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Delware, Conneticut, NY to
attend the Campaign School, especially since some states will be gearing
up for many campaigns like DC. Scott McLarty, Brent will be giving
workshops; asking John Eder to give workshop on Voter ID. Brent will
send John draft of track schedule and anyone who wants input; contact
Brent.
o OH School canceled.
c. Green Pages and the CCC:
o Rob will get information together, Greg will edit and help put
together & submit. Give updates on campaigns.
o Mike Feinstein will do electoral report separate from CCC Green Pages
report.
d. Committee Liaison updates
o Brent is updating committee liaisons from CCC. Greg hasn't seen
anything from Presidential WG list serve. Brent just added Sally to
Ballot Access list serve.
e. Other Updates:
Sally's update on her state-by state Resources assessment: State list.
Will send brief more descriptive update later on. If there were any
other updates Sally didn't record… oops.
Candidate Resource Identification Needs Questionnaire Update
*Note: Being a State Associate doesn't mean the contact knows anything
about the electoral goings-on in their state. That is something I keep
finding. Perhaps we should urge that State Associates be knowledgeable
or somehow connected to, campaigns in their state, and the
electoral/campaign body in their state.
