WASHINGTON, DC -- Guest speakers and Green candidates will be featured at the Green Party's 2014 Annual National Meeting at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, from Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27 (

Among the confirmed guest speakers are:

Charles Eisenstein, public speaker and author of The Ascent of Humanity (2007), Sacred Economics (2011), and The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible (2013) (

Cam Gordon, Green member of the Minneapolis City Council, Ward 2 (

2012 Green presidential nominee Jill Stein and running mate Cheri Honkala ( will also attend.

The Minnesota Green Party is hosting the meeting ( The Minnesota Secretary of State's office has confirmed four Green Party candidates at the state and federal level for the 2014 election:

Lena Buggs for state Representative in 65A (
Andy Dawkins, candidate for Minnesota Attorney General (
Kristine Osbakken for state Representative in 7A (
Skip Sandman for the U.S. House in Congressional District 8 (

Mr. Dawkins, a former State Representative (65A) and Director of Neighborhood Housing and Property Improvement for the City of St. Paul, converted from Democrat to Green and has been endorsed by the Minnesota Green Party (

The meeting is open to the media and public. A credentialing page for reporters, bloggers, and other members of the media interested in covering the meeting is now online ( Members of the media may also register on site at the meeting.

The 2014 meeting marks the 30th anniversary of the first national get-together of Greens, which took place at Macalester College. The first national Green organization was founded at that meeting, the decentralized Green Committees of Correspondence, with the goal of organizing local groups and working towards a Green political organization. The Ten Key Values adopted by the Green Party were put forth during the 1984 meeting (

The 2014 meeting will feature Green Party panels, workshops, meetings of the Green National Committee, and other events. Several Green candidates running in 2014 and Green elected officials are expected to travel from from states across the U.S. to attend the meeting. Greens will also discuss the party's involvement in 2016 elections.
