COBB/LaMARCHE 2004 September 22, 2004 Contact: Blair Bobier, Media Director at 541.929.5755 or 414.364.1596 GREEN VP CANDIDATE JOINS HOMELESS TEENS ON THE STREETS OF BOSTON Pat LaMarche's Second Night of the Left Out Tour Green Party vice presidential candidate Pat LaMarche will spend tonight with homeless teens on the streets of Boston as part of her unprecedented "Left Out Tour," which began Tuesday in her home state of Maine and will continue until October 4 in Cleveland, Ohio. On each night of the two week Tour, LaMarche will sleep either in a homeless or domestic violence shelter or on the streets to draw attention to the least privileged members of our society. "In Boston, some of the homeless teens don't like to stay in shelters because they feel vulnerable," said LaMarche, who will join the teens in a particular outdoor location where they feel more comfortable. Out of respect for the teens' safety and privacy, LaMarche would not reveal this location. During the day, LaMarche said she will "be taking on the role of a volunteer," and will help to serve dinner at a domestic violence shelter. Throughout the Tour, LaMarche will also collect donations of essential items for homeless shelters. On Thursday, LaMarche will sleep in a tent across from the Rhode Island Statehouse. LaMarche will also hold an all-night vigil in front of the current vice president's mansion in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night. "The reason for the Left Out Tour is to focus on people who are left out in our society and more importantly, to demonstrate things we can do to help them," said LaMarche.
