GREEN PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES Contacts: GREEN CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES ISSUE A '2004 UNITY STATEMENT' WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Green Party candidates for Congress have issued a 'Green Party 2004 Unity Statement', featuring a list of progressive and ecological positions on vital issues in the 2004 election. The 27 candidates, organized as the Coordinated Congressional Campaign, address topics that most Republican and Democratic candidates have ignored., including the need for single-payer national health insurance, decisive steps to prevent global warming (such as rejoining the Kyoto agreement), and repeal of the USA Patriot Act. The statement's call to "Get the U.S. out of Iraq" is consistent with the Green Party's outspoken opposition to the invasion and occupation.
