MEDIA INVITATION: GREEN PARTY PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATING CONVENTION

WASHINGTON, DC -- Ralph Nader, campaigning hard for President, will compete with Jello Biafra of California and Stephen Gaskin of Tennessee for the nomination at the Green Party’s National Nominating Convention 2000 in Denver, Colorado at the Renaissance Hotel on June 24-25, 2000.

The Association of State Green Parties will host the convention and has reserved a limited block of rooms at the hotel for members of the media. These will be processed on a first-come, first served basis. The deadline for reserving rooms at the hotel is June 2.

The nightly rate is $110. Twelve telephones will be set up in the media workroom for the convention. An application for media credentials is available at the web site below or contact Nancy Harvey at 303-554-1575 or asgp-convention@greens.org for information.

Friday, June 23 
All day Arrival of delegates 
9 a.m.-4 p.m. Meeting of Association of State Green Parties  
      Coordinating Committee

7 p.m. Evening reception for delegates and guests

Saturday, June 24 
9:30 a.m. Opening of convention and committee reports 
10 a.m. Start platform discussion 
Noon Lunch 
1 p.m. Manning Marable keynote plenary speech 
1:45 p.m. Resume platform discussion and votes 
3 p.m. Consider convention resolutions/positions 
4 p.m. Ann Northrop keynote speech 
5 p.m. Adjourn 
5:30 p.m. Daily news conference 
8 p.m. Helen Caldicott speech 
9 p.m. Jim Hightower speech
