US Greens to hold Convention |
Green Party in US is growing fast June 6, 2000 – The Association of State Green Parties (USA) will be holding its Presidential Nominating Convention in Denver, Colorado, on 24, 25 June. Three candidates are competing for the nomination and consumer advocate Ralph Nader is widely expected to get the nomination. Noted speakers at the convention include 1980 US presidential candidate John Anderson, anti-nuclear activist Dr. Helen Caldicott, as well as author and radio show host Jim Hightower. Ralph Nader’s campaign for the nomination has taken him almost every state in the U.S. already and polls show him running near 6%. The convention will be the largest event ever held by the Green Party in the U.S. Representatives from Green Parties in 14 other countries will be attending the convention, including a strong contingent from the European Federation of Green Parties and Green members of the European Parliament, as well as from South America and New Zealand.
