The states with the most write-in candidates for local government are PA (28 candidates/20 elected), CT (16/9), NY (15/0), VA (10/7), CA (10/2). The states with the most write-in candidates for federal office are CA (11), CO (6), OH (6), AZ (3), CT (3), GA (3), VA (3).
The states with the most write-in victories for local government are PA (28 candidates/20 elected), CT (16/9), VA (10/7), ME (6/5), IL (6/4), OR (4/3) and WI (3/3). PA has primarily run write-in campaigns for Inspector of Elections (6/6), Judge of Elections (7/5) and Auditor (5/4). CT has focused on Constable (5/4), Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate (4/3) and Registrar of Voters (4/2). In VA, they have all been for Soil and Water Conservation District (10/7).
