Palmer House Hilton, Convention Headquarters
The headquarter hotel for the 2008 GPUS Presidential Nominating Convention is the Palmer House Hilton, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, about 2 blocks from the Chicago Symphony Center, the site of the nominating convention to be held on Saturday July 12th.
The majority of events are being held at the Palmer House Hilton, including National Committee meetings, platform hearings, workshops and a presidential candidate forum. Make your reservations for the Palmer House by calling them directly at 1-877-865-5321.

Pricing
Singles are $205 a night; Doubles are $230; Triples are $250 and Quads are $270. Prices do not include applicable taxes. The hotel requires the first night as a deposit in order to confirm a room reservation. Checks and major credit cards are acceptable to establish prepayment.
Room Sharing
One way to reduce lodgings costs is to share a room with other Greens. We encourage Greens sharing rooms to stay at the Palmer House Hilton -- they will be close to the convention activities and there will be many more chances to socialize and learn about the Green Movement from others.
The first places to look for Room Shares are your own State Party and its convention delegation. We have also set up a Room Sharing Bulletin Board where you can coordinate with other convention goers.

Hostels
While we encourage convention visitors to stay at the Palmer House Hilton, hostels offer an alternative. Unfortunately, few of them are in downtown Chicago, and most will require travel time to and from the convention site. Fortunately, Chicago's public transportation is accessible from most of the hostels.

Home Stays
Some Chicago-area Greens have generously offered to host convention visitors. There are a limited number of spots, and we would like to reserve them for those delegates and observers in the most need of lodging support. For this reason, we are asking that you please attempt to share a Palmer House Hilton room with other Greens from your State Party delegation, or elsewhere, before requesting a Home Stay.
