Amendment to Chapter I: Democracy
Proposal 1: Add new section as note #1; adjust subsequent points accordingly

Section Title: E. Domestic Security
Section Subtitle: #1

Proposed Changes

1. Immediately address environmental degradation in all forms. Environmental degradation poses extremely pressing concerns to both domestic and international security, amongst other things. An increasing frequency / intensity of extreme weather events as a whole are stressing global food, water, financial, security, energy, transportation, emigration/immigration, and other systems – pitting the self-interests of normally peaceful nations against each other. See chapter III for more detail.

  1. I don’t think this is a useful addition to the policy changes that are being called for in this section – the entire section is directed toward the restoration of civil liberties and rolling back the power of the police state. This amendment language addresses an entirely different aspect of “security”, and doesn’t belong in this section. Everything is connected, of course, but that doesn’t mean we have to include everything everywhere in our platform.

  2. Perhaps instead add it to #13

    13. Environmental degradation poses extremely pressing concerns to both domestic and international security. An increasing frequency / intensity of extreme weather events as a whole are stressing global food, water, financial, security, energy, transportation, emigration/immigration, and other systems. Ensure that government actions towards emigrants/immigrants comply with our Constitution and universal human rights principles.

  3. The term ‘Domestic Security’ could use some elucidation. I think we might assume some meanings which others fear or don’t appreciate or even agree with. I suggest a definition of terms to start with.
