This teleconference/webinar is designed especially for Greens who are running for office or considering a run in the near future. This call will be led by David Sacks, GPUS Fundraiser, and Holly Hart of the Green Party of Iowa. It will cover various basic topics related to raising money for your campaign and keeping track of it effectively.
Topics covered will include:
- Starting your fundraising plan and donor list
- Event planning/House parties
- Asking for money using different methods
- Setting up an account
- Roles for a campaign treasurer
- Tips for simple bookkeeping and reporting
David Sacks has been involved with the Green Party for 11 years. After volunteering for a Green Congressional campaign in 2002 he went on to co-found the University of Illinois Campus Greens in Urbana. In 2006 he worked as the Office Manager for the Whitney for Governor campaign, which took over 10% of the vote in a statewide race. In 2008 and 2010 he was the campaign manager for Jeremy Karpen for 39th State Representative in Illinois. The campaign raised $5,000 and garnered 20% of the vote in 2008 and raised $30,000 and garnered 35% of the vote in 2010. In 2011, he was hired as the staff fundraiser for the Green Party of the United States. His professional background prior to working for the national party was in data management.
Holly Hart has been active in the Green Party and in electoral politics at the local, state and national levels. Among her activities, she has served as treasurer for a number of local and state-level campaigns (some of the candidates won!).
